Wordpress 3.1

In this tutorial we will show you how to set up a WordPress 3.4 server in Dreamweaver CS6 or CS5.5. I have done a similar tutorial for CS5.5 and have been asked for an updated version for CS6. The process for this is very similar for most versions of Dreamweaver but CS6 is what I now work with. I have… Continue reading

In this brief tutorial we will cover the basics of what Gravatars are and how they are used. As well as how to integrate them in a sire you are developing.

A Gravatar is an image that once loaded up to a central site will follow you from site to site and every time you post a comment on someone’s blog or other site this image will appear beside your name. The central site that holds all these images is usually Continue reading

In this tutorial we will tech you how to take an existing WordPress 3.1 theme and using Dreamweaver CS5.5 create our own theme. This is a rather complex task however we are lucky in that Dreamweaver does make this task considerably easier for us, provide we know how to go about the changes we wish to make. We will begin by modifying another theme as this is a great way for you to learn just how WordPress works and is the best way for you to learn how to make WordPress themes.

Five things we need to have before beginning.

  1. XAMPP server running on your computer
  2. WordPress server running in our XAMPP server
  3. Dreamweaver CS5.5 although CS5 will do
  4. We also need to have your WordPress server set up to run in Dreamweaver (if you don’t know how to do this please check out the tutorial I did yesterday on setting this up)
  5. A WordPress theme installed to use as a basis for our new theme.

If you have all of this then we are ready to create our first WordPress 3.1 theme. Continue reading

In this tutorial we will show you how to set up a WordPress 3.1 server in Dreamweaver Cs5.5. The process for this is very similar for most versions of Dreamweaver but CS5.5 is what I work with. I have not noticed a difference between this and CS5 or CS4. The process is fairly easy particularly if you have set up other dynamically related servers in Dreamweaver in the past such as Joomla or Drupal.

Three things you will need before proceeding with setting up your WordPress server in Dreamweaver.

  1. A XAMPP server installed on your PC (MAMPP if your on Mac.) This server should be Switched on before your start.
  2. An installed copy of WordPress inside your XAMPP folder.
  3. A WordPress 3.1 theme installed for you to modify once your in.

We will not be covered the installation process for either of these things in this tutorial. That is a subject for another tutorial altogether. If you have all this done already then its time to open Dreamweaver and begin.
